Europa Point Lighthouse is the Southernmost and only Trinity House Lighthouse outside of Great Britain. It was first lit in 1841, as a guide for vessels passing through the strait between the Atlantic and Mediterranean, with a fixed light and single wick oil lamp. It was automated in 1994 and re-engineered in 2016, when the fog signal and subsidiary light were removed.
