Royal Mail is releasing a limited edition coin cover for the £2 coin and a stamp featuring Southwold Lighthouse

As part of the wide range of activities commemorating Trinity House’s 500th anniversary, Royal Mail is releasing a limited edition coin cover for the £2 coin produced by The Royal Mint earlier this year. This fact-packed and beautifully-designed cover celebrates the 500th anniversary and features the £2 commemorative coin from The Royal Mint as well as the new Southwold Lighthouse stamp, cancelled with a unique handstamp. Limited edition of 10,000.

The coin cover is available from 18 September at www.royalmail.com/seasidearchitecture

As part of its Special Stamp programme, Royal Mail today (18 September 2014) launches a set of new stamps that celebrates the variety and originality of UK seaside architecture, featuring images of Southwold Lighthouse, Eastbourne Bandstand, Tinside Lido, Bangor Pier, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a Bexhill-on-Sea Shelter. All of the chosen structures are fine examples of their type, capturing distinctive types of seaside architecture from key periods with a range of resort type - large and small, well-known and less so.

Andrew Hammond, Royal Mail spokesperson, said: “This stamp issue captures the spirit of the seaside experience through the buildings and structures that are so distinctive of the UK’s resorts, which were designed for the pleasure of the visitor.”

The stamps are available from 18 September at www.royalmail.com/seasidearchitecture, by phone on 03457 641 641 and in 8,000 Post Offices throughout the UK.

Notes To Editors

The Corporation of Trinity House was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1514 to oversee the improvement of pilotage on the River Thames and manage the welfare of distressed seamen and their dependents. Today it serves the mariner as the General Lighthouse Authority (GLA) for England, Wales and the Channel Islands, with responsibility for nearly 600 aids to navigation, from traditional aids such as lighthouses to the latest satellite navigation technology.

It is also the UK’s largest-endowed maritime charity, wholly funded by its endowments, spending around £4m each year on its charitable activities including welfare of mariners, education and training, and the promotion of safety at sea. It is also a Deep Sea Pilotage Authority. Please visitwww.trinityhouse.co.uk for more information.
