Trinity House welcomes new Director of Operations

Captain Andy Holt joins the maritime organisation as the Director of Operations on its Lighthouse Board

Trinity House has appointed Captain Andy Holt as its new Director of Operations, replacing Commodore Rob Dorey, effective from 11 March.

Captain Holt is a Master Mariner, bringing over 30 years’ experience of the marine, shipping and energy industries to the Executive team that manages Trinity House’s day-to-day operations as a General Lighthouse Authority.

Andy started his career as a Merchant Navy cadet, coming ashore after almost 13 years including time in command, to take up a role as Marine Superintendent for Trident Offshore (now Intermoor).

In November 2020, he became Fleet Director at Ocean Infinity, a survey technology and marine robotics organisation at the cutting edge of remote and autonomous shipping, where he successfully built up the company’s fleet from zero. Under Andy’s leadership, the first vessel was delivered in November 2022 and a further six have been bought into service with a further 17 currently under construction.

Of the new appointment, Deputy Master Rear Admiral Iain Lower said:

“It is a genuine pleasure to welcome Andy to Trinity House, and I look forward to working alongside him to deliver an outstanding service for the benefit and safety of all mariners.”
